Mihailo’s primary responsibility is Polygon’s technology strategy, which includes all new efforts and products with a primary focus on zero-knowledge proofs and Supernets. He is also deeply involved in identifying and leveraging emerging opportunities, relationships and technologies of critical importance to Polygon’s future. An IT engineer with over a decade of experience, Mihailo was born and raised in a small mountain town in Serbia during a tumultuous time in Balkan history. The proximity to armed conflict and living through the shock of hyperinflation left a big impression on young Mihailo.
Herecalls carrying a wad of cash to buy groceries, but being able to only afford a box of matches as the value of the paper evaporated en route. Those early insights led Mihailo to question whether there are better ways to organize human societies and were the starting point for his Web3 journey. At the same time, a one-year workstint in northern Tanzania, where people lacked basic identification much less access to a bank account, exposed him to the great ocean of need outside of the developed world that blockchain technology can help address and the tremendous untapped reserve of human potential to be unlocked in the process.Mihailo has been involved with the crypto industry since 2013 and starting 2017 became active as a researcher and one of the most acknowledged contributors on the Ethereum Research forum.
In early 2021, he joined Sandeep Nailwal, Jaynti Kanani and Anurag Arjun, who were building Matic Network, to create Polygon with a mission to become the premier scaling solution for Ethereum.
