Gundars Ostrovskis is a team leader in the Digital Finance Unit of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union. He is involved in the analytical work on crypto-assets including decentralized finance and central bank digital currencies, as well as leads the unit’s policy work on open finance. Gundars has extensive economic analysis experience of various EU policy files in the financial sector, including financial market infrastructures. He has also worked on European policy and financial stability issues at the European Central Bank and possesses professional experience in banking. Gundars holds an MSc degree in banking and finance from the Luxembourg School of Finance, as well as an MA degree in European economics from the College of Europe in Bruges.
