SPEAKER’S PROFILE

Jack Jia is Head of GateFi at Unlimint. Jack grew up in San Francisco and studied economics at UC Berkeley where he met lifelong friends in the School of Engineering. In 2009, Jia co-founded a startup with his colleagues, applying AI/ML to industrial hydraulic systems. In 2013, he first heard of Bitcoin at a dinner party and became instantly fascinated. Two months later, he decided to change industries and became the first employee at Wyre, a first generation crypto payment company. From the year of “Blockchain Not Bitcoin” to the Bitcoin Civil War to the rise of Defi and NFTs, Jack has been at the frontlines of the industry as an active contributor since 2013. After seven years at Wyre, Jack left to take a gap year to rest and focus on mental health. He strongly believes that when working in fast growing industries like crypto, people need to find healthy stress response mechanisms. Today, he relies on exercising, meditation, volunteering, and even playing in an ukulele band to balance out the sheer amount of time spent in the Metaverse. Currently, at Unlimint, Jia is head of the new crypto solution GateFi where he is responsible for bringing the new product to life from development to legal, risk, compliance, sales and marketing strategies. He is the go-to person for the product and sales team, and his goal is to “build with the builders” by leveraging Unlimint’s global banking & payment infrastructure and contributing in a meaningful way to the crypto space.
